THREE SECONDS
Video Installation
MAY 2023
This video installation explores the ramifications of
fast living and how a constant accelerated life can trigger feelings of stress
and anxiety. Using scanned mundane objects found in nature, this motion piece
brings to life the little things that are often overlooked and taken for
granted. Flowers are among these items used to demonstrate the ephemerality of
our time in the present, which only lasts three seconds according to
psychologist and neuroscientist Ernst Pöppel.
By pushing for more time in the presence, we can begin to see the beauty in the little things, reminding us that life too is ephemeral, and should not be wasted in worries about the past or future.
